Press Release (PDF)

While it is impossible to completely dislocate a work from its milieu, if one removes the viewer’s ability to perceive the position (spatially, formally, conceptually) of two or more art objects in relation to one another, is it possible to dislocate that object from the conventional way it is viewed, freeing it from the laziness of entrenched assumptions?

Simply put, what is it to view a modestly-sized single artwork within the context of a traditional
gallery space?

A few times a week for six weeks RFA rehung a single work (Kelley Walker’s Untitled, 2011) in a new location in the gallery, allowing for an extended meditation on a singular example of the artist's work.
